The anti-hail season for planes at the “Gorna Oryahovitsa“ airport has been open for almost a month, bTV reported.

Since the beginning of the month, the teams of the three planes at the “Gorna Oryahovitsa“ airport have already made over 15 flights to break up hail clouds.
„Both planes are loaded with fuel and seeding reagent, we are ready for one hour, if a signal is given now we will be in the air within one hour“, explained Kamen Kosharov, instructor and commander of the planes.
Hail clouds are attacked with silver iodide. Like rain.
"These devices are flyers that, after being activated, burn for three minutes and release microparticles that serve as a condensation draft in the cloud. The idea is to cause precipitation before they become large ice chunks that we can do nothing about“, also pointed out commander Kosharov.
Since the beginning of the season until now, there have been no hailstones registered in the territory served by the company in Northern and Central Bulgaria.
