Five experts in the case of the accident with the participation of the former chairman of the MRF and former long-time MP Lyutvi Mestan recused themselves at today's session of the District Court in Kardzhali. The panel of the District Court has launched the criminal case of a general nature with two defendants, the court's press service reported, quoted by BTA.
The trial is being conducted for the case of April 14, 2019, when at the junction for the village of Momchilgrad Zagorsko in a traffic accident - a collision of two cars, a 6-month-old baby died. Co-defendant with Mestan is the father of the child who died in the accident - Yussein Ahmed.
The case was repeatedly postponed and renewed with a new court panel. The magistrates twice returned the indictment to the prosecutor's office.
"The reason for the withdrawal is the pressure exerted on us in various ways by Lyutvi Mestan", said in the courtroom, a member of the expert team, Prof. Stanimir Karapetkov, recalling that a case was filed against the conclusions of the expert examination after a report for compiling a document with false content.
"In my report, I only mentioned deeply manipulated circumstances surrounding the case, I did not cite names", replied Mestan, quoted in the announcement.
The court, after deliberation, accepted the request for the experts to recuse themselves, therefore it appointed a new triple complex auto-technical and forensic medical examination with other experts - two specialists in the field of auto-technical examinations and one expert - a forensic doctor, and at the request of the parties to the case, the court also set additional tasks for the examination,the court indicated.
Therefore, the case was postponed to October 6 of this year.
