Radan Kanev: If "Vazrazhdane" signs a vote of no confidence in the PP, it will be a political mistake with very serious consequences - 1

The real problem is that the conversation about the vote of no confidence of "We continue the change" to the government of Rosen Zhelyazkov is not being conducted within the PP-DB coalition, but is being conducted by one of the parties in the coalition through the media. This was stated by EPP MEP Radan Kanev to the Bulgarian National Radio.

According to Kanev, if "Vazrazhdane" signing a vote of no confidence in the PP would be a political mistake with very serious consequences for the PP-DB.

Regarding the comments of GERB leader Boyko Borisov, who made a difference between the PP and the DB, the MEP pointed out that "this type of intrigue, Borisov's coups" have been familiar to him since 2009. and believes that "Borisov is trying to spin fast enough to be able to kiss Ursula von der Leyen, Trump and Orban simultaneously within an hour".

Regarding possible early elections in the fall, Radan Kanev pointed out that the deadline for early elections to be successful is spring 2026.

He called for "to use the luck" that there is a GERB government in which the PP-DB does not participate, in order to build their own political power, since the PP-DB is far from the organizational state in which it can claim power. Kanev emphasized that the period in opposition should be used for strengthening, and a lot of time has clearly been wasted, and specified that the lack of organizational unity is a serious political obstacle on the path to power.

Radan Kanev commented that we do not have a long-term vision of what we would like our society to look like in 15 years, and we do not and cannot successfully compete with societies that have such a vision. We are literally living in uncharted waters, and we refuse to take this fact into account, he pointed out.

Regarding the positive convergence report on Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone, Radan Kanev pointed out that as a nation we should have more self-confidence and said that Romania has long wanted to enter the eurozone, but its deficit is 9.5%, and Poland, despite being cited as an example of economic development over the past 20 years, systematically does not meet the criteria for the eurozone.

According to him, our entry into the eurozone may be irreversible, because the convergence report is the beginning of a quick procedure, but it is the beginning.

Kanev expressed his surprise at the head of state regarding his position on the eurozone, because "he has consistently supported the policy of Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone at the first possible moment".
