"Corruption is emerging as a national consensus, since it is clearly seen that engaging in politics usually boils down to looking for ways to profit from it, which is most easily done through the misuse of state funds and the redistribution and redirection of orders or direct finances".
This was commented on by political scientist Georgi Prodanov to the Bulgarian National Radio.
"The news that happened was more of a continuation of the way we live and confirmed that the doubts that our politics are not what we want them to be are completely justified", he believes he.
"What has been actively talked about for 3 days is that "We continue the change" is also a corrupt party, everyone is corrupt, everyone is a charlatan - if we accept it as reality, it means closing the state and closing the idea that we can be a different state and different people", the political scientist emphasized.
"If you actually look at the content of the recording, which features two people, it is actually about negotiations between people who are trying to make money from their posts. This is largely a personal initiative, in my opinion,", he expressed his opinion.
According to him, we live in an absurd world in which the extreme distrust between people leads to this sometimes necessary need to record conversations. According to him, things are extremely complex.
We also have a situation in which many names have been mentioned, who are known for their complicity in similar processes, which once again appear in the media space, already wearing a different label, a different party, presenting themselves under a different role, Prodanov noted.
According to him, this shows that Bulgarian politics is being used unscrupulously by many people who profit against the interests of everyone else.
"The big problem of the PP in this situation was that it did not react sufficiently as a party, but reacted with the lonely resignation of Kiril Petkov. What Petkov said was not enough. The problem is much deeper and is not so much focused on his personal guilt in the selection of these personnel".
In his words, the topic of who enters politics for what reason and what they do in politics is huge:
"There are indeed a lot of economic interests of people who want to get rich or are used to making their money through corruption. This is "normal" in recent years, because it turned out that engaging in politics is a quick and calm way to abuse funds. There are companies that have no income, except for government contracts and money that came from the state and municipalities.
"When we do not have parties that have criteria for membership, they do not select the one who, for some reason, enters and appears on their behalf in elections and claims to be involved in politics and has some capacity and opportunity for this - the result is this - people who enter use the shells of the parties, riding in these shells until the moment when these shells start to sink".
According to him, the moment is not for breaking up coalitions and destroying parties, but it is extremely suitable for searching for a new way of communicating between these coalition partners.
We are in a situation in which "Yes, Bulgaria" and the PP are on the path of their evolution, he expressed his opinion. And he added that there is no way a party without structures can guarantee that it will not be used or that people in it will not engage in illegal activities:
"That a party has its own structures, a membership base and people with loyalty at the party level and communication with each other is the guarantee that "lone riders" who have entered to make money, represent some business that has decided to make even more money from the state or something similar will not enter. This is the meaning of party membership".
