A prayer for rain was served in the temple “Holy Trinity“ in Knezha as part of the city-wide prayer day.
The day began with the Holy Divine Liturgy, celebrated by Father Seraphim from the temple in Knezha, in collaboration with the parish deacon Father Irinej.
After the liturgy, the priests performed the ancient prayer sequence – a prayer for rain to the holy prophet Elijah, thus begging for his favor and help before God.

The day began with the Holy Divine Liturgy, celebrated by Father Seraphim from the church in Knezha, in collaboration with the parish deacon Father Irinej.
After the liturgy, the priests performed the ancient prayer sequence - a prayer for rain to the holy prophet Elijah, thus begging for his favor and help before God.
„We know that the holy prophet Elijah is a protector and intercessor before God for us. Through his prayers for the admonition of the people of that time, who had erred and slipped into foreign teachings and idolatry, God bound the heavens and did not give a single drop of rain for three years and six months,“ Father Seraphim told BTA.
He also said that after that, again through the prayers of the holy prophet Elijah, God untied the heavens and rain poured down, sufficient to water the earth, fill the wells and once again the earth bore abundant fruit.
Therefore, in the city of Knezha, in this part of the summer, during a time of drought and heat, they begged God to give sufficient and abundant rain. After that, a sacrifice was also consecrated for the citizens.
“May God hear our prayerful voices, grant us what we ask for. May He show His great mercy and let us taste what is blessed and consecrated by God. Grant us health, fertility and prosperity, peace and spiritual salvation. Have mercy on us and give us time for repentance and correction. Great power is in the earnest prayer of all“, said the father during the consecration of the kurban.
It was distributed for the health, blessing and prosperity of the city and the state to the laity present.
Father Seraphim added that so far the prayers for rain have been successful among them. After the last one in the spring, the rain has been falling for two days.
The celebration was also attended by the Chairperson of the Municipal Council in Knezha Katya Gergovska, Deputy Mayor Kapka Miteva, municipal employees, and citizens.
