Karadjov: Bulgaria has never experienced such a severe crisis of lack of railway carriages and railcars - 1

Bulgaria has never experienced such a severe crisis of lack of railway carriages and railcars. This was said by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov, who took part in Friday's parliamentary control. Minister Karadjov pointed out that on the least congested routes with short destinations, passengers are currently being transported by air-conditioned buses, precisely due to the lack of sufficient train compositions.

This is the fruit of the legacy left by the previous leadership, Karadjov pointed out. Some of the trains will be directed to the busiest routes, which will only provide some relief for rail travelers, he said from the parliamentary rostrum.

Minister Grozdan Karadjov answered a question from the MP from “Vazrazhdane“ Ivelin Parvanov, related to problems with the sale of tickets for BDZ and which led to problems with the allocation of seats and accommodation of passengers in the carriages.

As the main reason for this, Minister Karadjov pointed to the lack of enough carriages. Tickets are sold for eight-seater compartments, but in the end a carriage with six-seater compartments is attached, he gave as an example.

To facilitate travelers during the summer season, a 30-day advance sale has been launched for all fast trains, so that people can plan their trip calmly and have enough time to buy tickets, the relevant minister assured.

According to him, the solution to this problem is to buy enough new rolling stock.
