A serious accident occurred between two cars on the Podbalkanski road near Elin Pelin, there are dead and injured people.
Three people died on the spot - a 66-year-old man, a 60-year-old woman and another 49-year-old man, announced the deputy director of the Sofia Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Commissioner Georgi Kalaidzhiev, quoted by bTV
A mother and child injured in the accident were transported to the Emergency Department of "Pirogov", the hospital announced. The child has multiple injuries and will undergo emergency surgery.
The mother is about 45 years old, and the child is one and a half years old, Georgi Kalaidzhiev specified.
The accident occurred in the section between the exits for Musachevo and Grigorevo, near the village of Stolnik.
It was a head-on collision on a straight section, one of the cars entered the oncoming lane. It was not a case of overtaking, the driver probably felt sick.
The signal for the serious accident was given at 1:50 p.m. The fire department sent 2 cars with teams to cut the metal sheets from the crashed cars.
The road is closed, and traffic is being redirected through Musachevo – Elin Pelin – Grigorevo.
