The founder of the MRF, Ahmed Dogan, announced in a written position that he would launch a new political party within three months. Journalist Valeria Veleva, who has been following the processes in the movement for years, commented on the topic in the studio of “Ofansiva” on NOVA NEWS. According to her, Dogan is “done with Bulgarian politics.”
„Ahmed Dogan will not create a new party, or at least not one that would have any influence in society. Entire municipal structures have gone to Delyan Peevski. Yes, there is a small part that has not gone yet. And probably, the people around Dogan are counting on this being the core of a new party. But look, this letter from Ahmed Dogan was met with extreme negativity by the despots. I talked to many members of the MRF. They say – "Ahmed Dogan, before he comes out and says he will create his own party, should say that he was wrong about this, this, this and this." In fact, Dogan lost everything. He lost a party, a party headquarters, a business," she said.
"The critical attitude towards the people he announced in the so-called list who would help form the party was extremely sharp. In this letter, he wrote a Central Operations Bureau for Ahmed Dogan. Is there a central office for any person somewhere? That is, Dogan currently has nothing. I say this as an impartial analyst. He is currently an ordinary citizen who can form a party. But he cannot form a Central Operations Bureau for Ahmed Dogan. He can form a group of friends," Veleva added.
According to her, "Ahmed Dogan is frozen in 1990". “Back then, when he created the MRF. Today, 35 years later, if someone wants to create a party, it cannot be based on the same principle. He has no idea about the new political realities and what a new party should look like. I am not saying that everyone in the MRF likes Delyan Peevski. There may probably be those who will try to create a formation. But they will not be those who are around Dogan and together with him. They must be absolutely new people”, said Valeria Veleva.
She also commented on Peevski's request to close the Anti-Corruption Commission.
