The fire fronts in the country have brought together the efforts of firefighters, volunteers and local residents. Growing fires, road closures and the involvement of the army mark the crisis situation. The authorities have issued an order to form the Disaster Headquarters and respectively implement the Disaster Action Plan in the section “Severe Fires“, reports Dariknews.bg. The decision was coordinated with the Prime Minister and an order was issued by the Minister of Interior.
A National Firefighting Headquarters is Formed
The Minister of Interior issued an order for the formation of the Disaster Headquarters and the respective implementation of the Disaster Action Plan in the section “Severe Fires“. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Interior Toni Todorov.
Bulgaria requests assistance from the European Union to extinguish the fires
An organization has been created to establish contact with the regional governors of the affected regions in order to localize the fires. “It has been proposed to the Minister of Interior to request assistance and activate the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, according to which we can request assistance with various means from the partner countries in this mechanism“, added Todorov.
“The Ministry of Interior requests assistance with four aircraft under the European Civil Protection Mechanism for the fires in the Strumyani municipality and the Tran region“, said the Deputy Minister.
Todorov described the situation in the Strumyani municipality, Blagoevgrad as the “most severe”, and in second place placed the fires raging in three villages in the Tran region, Pernik, where there is a possibility that the fire will reach the territory of the Republic of Serbia. And he stated that for the moment there is no danger to the population.

„The fire in the land of the village of Ilindentsi is growing. At the moment, all teams have been withdrawn because there is a danger to them“ – said Chief Commissioner Alexander Dzhartov, Director of the GDPBZN. The fire continues to grow due to strong winds, and the main power line passing through the village has been stopped as a security measure.
