Zafirov: Protests cannot shake the government - they are clearly politically inspired - 1

The current configuration is the only possible one if we want predictability in the country. Now, another attempt is being made to destabilize Bulgaria and enter another election cycle. There is also a society that is experiencing fears - of the euro, of the price situation, social, consumer fears. There is also a society that expects rapid reforms and social stability. The combination of these factors creates tension. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Assembly of the BSP Atanas Zafirov in the program “Offensive with Lyubo Ognyanov” on NovaNews.
He pointed out that the BSP is part of a general government in the name of political stability and the well-being of the nation.

“The protests cannot shake the government - they are clearly politically inspired", said Zafirov.

On the topic of the operations conducted by the CPC in Varna against Blagomir Kotsev and the deputy mayor of Sofia - Nikola Barbutov, Zafirov said that this type of bodies should not turn into political bludgeons. "It is important to say that guilt and innocence are proven", he added and called on law enforcement agencies to be left to do their job.

Candidates for the new composition of the Anti-Corruption Commission

The socialist said that the three parties in the government have common candidates for the new composition of the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Judicial reform

The Deputy Prime Minister commented on the case with Borislav Sarafov. He pointed out that there is calm and legal solutions should be sought. He also said that those dissatisfied with the judicial reform are precisely those who participated in its implementation.

The Prosecutor's College of the Supreme Judicial Council will not appoint a new acting prosecutor Prosecutor General

According to Zafirov, issues concerning judicial reform must be worked on precisely in order to avoid delegitimization of our country in Europe.

He added that "those who most raised the fight against corruption as a banner now hold answers to Bulgarian society purely politically".

New vote of no confidence

Regarding the opposition's requests for a new vote of no confidence on the topic of “Security”, Atanas Zafirov expressed full support for the Minister of Interior:

“I have no doubts about Minister Mitov's desire to introduce order in the sector. These are difficult reforms that cannot be completed in 6 months. More importantly, the direction is right," he said.

Zafirov stressed that the problems in the "Security" sector should not be underestimated, but should not be the subject of a frivolous approach.

"It is striking that after each such vote, the government emerges more and more united and motivated. After each such vote, there is more and more talk that this government's mandate is four years," Zafirov added. And he defined the votes of no confidence as untenable. "This procedure should be the main weapon of the opposition, we, as a government, need a corrective, but not what we see at the moment", the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

Zafirov said that incompatible parties are trying to fit into one shoe, which is politically dangerous.

“Ultra-liberal and pro-European parties are trying to speak in one voice with ultra-nationalists, isolationists and anti-Europeans. In no case can this be an alternative to governance”, Atanas Zafirov is categorical.

The Eurozone

He said that the euro will not make us richer or poorer, but it gives us the opportunity to enter a community in which we can become richer if we work as a community for this purpose.

The politician also commented on price controls. He said that the activity of the CPC and the CPC has probably "shook some unfair players in the market", which is why there is speculation that some businesses will be sanctioned and others not.

"The CPC has carried out over 7,000 inspections, the CPC is also working very actively and anti-cartel. "Very strict sanctions have been introduced there," the Deputy Prime Minister added.

He also said that sufficient guarantees will be given to producers and traders if the price spike is caused by other reasons.

And he assured that nothing terrible will happen on January 1, 2026.

The Budget

Atanas Zafirov said that we will stay within the 3% deficit. He pointed out that the debts taken are within the framework of the law and were withdrawn under good conditions.

The Deputy Prime Minister also said that it is "possible to update the budget in order to increase income, if prices increase". According to him, however, the implementation of the budget is going according to plan - with good revenue collection and debt withdrawn under very good conditions.

The Deputy Prime Minister also said that the BSP is returning to the people and "where it belongs". He also said that there are people who do not want to understand this.

He emphasized that one of the greatest successes of the cabinet is the budget.
