Fraudsters are posing as Ministry of Interior officials and visiting houses in the Hisarya region. The main target is the elderly. This is what the Hisarya Municipality warned about.
"Fake police officers are visiting homes, especially those of the elderly, and are using various fraudulent schemes to obtain money and valuables", they warn from there.
Because of the fake police officers, the municipality is urging people not to trust strangers who pose as law enforcement officers without showing an official ID card or identifying themselves.
"Do not give personal information, money or valuables to anyone - even if they claim to "help the police" or conduct an "operation against fraudsters"!", the Hisarya Municipality also advises.
If in doubt, people should immediately call 112 or contact the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Hisarya.
"Warn your elderly relatives and neighbors - they most often become victims of such fraudsters! Your vigilance can prevent serious damage and help catch the perpetrators!", the municipality urges.
Similar fraudulent schemes are not uncommon, and have been detected in other places in the Plovdiv region over the years.
