The former director of the “Customs“ Agency Petya Bankova has a serious oncological disease and has not been called for questioning after her release. This was stated in the studio of “This Morning“ on bTV by her lawyer Adelina Natina. Bankova is being investigated in the case of the alleged number one smuggler Nikola Nikolov-Paskal.
Before the Anti-Corruption Commission, he provided specific data on the participation in a smuggling channel by Martin and Stefan Dimitrov, Petya Bankova, Zhivko Kotsev, as well as Assen Vassilev and Boyko Rashkov. Pascal was released on bail of 50 thousand leva.
“Ms. Bankova is not well after what she went through. She has a serious oncological disease, the treatment continues, but no one can give a guarantee about the outcome of the disease. After she was released from custody, she was not called for questioning again“, the lawyer explained.
According to her, there is a partial suspension of the investigation regarding Marin Dimitrov, who is no longer being investigated for participation in the organized crime group. According to her, Pascal has now returned to our country because there is an agreement between him and the state prosecution.
“It happens when there is an accused person that he wants to conclude agreements and wants to cooperate in order to alleviate his situation. Petya Bankova was the director of the “Customs“ Agency for 40 days, and I have heard about Pascal in the media that he has been engaged in such activity for years. "It is illogical for me that someone would organize such a thing in 40 days," commented Natina.
The lawyer also said that none of the people who appointed Bankova supported her. She pointed out that her client did not specify in her testimony who gave whom and how much, but only that she had heard rumors.
„She was questioned about the appointments made by her and she said: „I was given a pass“. Let's not forget that the director of the „Customs“ Agency is directly subordinate to the Minister of Finance (b.r. Assen Vassilev at this moment), he is her direct supervisor. And after he ordered certain shifts and changes, she implemented them,“ the lawyer said.
