Residents of Pleven and the region are holding another protest due to the water crisis. In the afternoon, they will again block traffic on the main road Sofia - Ruse near the village of Yasen, and then their protest will continue in front of the municipality building in Pleven, BNR specifies.
The protest today will begin with a motorcade, which will leave at 2:00 p.m. from the parking lot by the lake in "Kaylaka" park, will pass through the central streets of Pleven and end on the Sfoia - Ruse road after the village of Yasen. It is expected that around 2:30 p.m. traffic there will be blocked, explained the organizer of the protests, Borislav Tsvetanov.
"To express our dissatisfaction with all the short-term, medium-term and long-term measures that are not effective, unreasonable things are being done, there will be no water. We are waiting for it to rain in the Balkans so that we can have water. Everything else is just an imitation of work, we are just hopeless“.
The protest will continue at 5:00 p.m. in front of the municipality building in Pleven.
"There is no way we can give up, we have to give ourselves to the state. We expect to find funding for the entire water supply network, not just for the metal pipes. We want the problem to be solved once and for all, not just wait for promises and be lied to for another year.“
Due to the ongoing problems with water shortages, the declared partial state of emergency in Pleven and 14 other settlements in the region was extended until October 1.
