"I hope that the show is already over and that we can really work fully, as very important events for the state are coming up, namely the adoption of the state budget for 2026." This was stated by BSP MP Iliyan Yonchev to the Bulgarian National Radio.
According to him, the budget will most clearly reflect the majority's policy, which is aimed at increasing the well-being of people, caring for vulnerable social groups, reducing regional inequalities, stability and sustainable development of the economy.
He believes that well-being begins with the increase in the minimum wage, which next year will be 1,213 leva. Over 600,000 people will receive an increase in their income, the MP pointed out in the program "Nedelya 150". And he also added the increase in the income of personal assistants, as well as those working in social services.
"Incomes are about to increase", he was categorical.
The BSP MP admitted that there are problems with the revenue side of the budget:
"I hope that the revenue agencies will work even harder and that by the end of the year the so-called hole in the budget will be reduced".
According to him, there are many challenges ahead next year. "It is important for us that people live better next year", declared Yonchev.
According to him, the pre-budget period is an appropriate time to hold a much-needed public discussion on the introduction of progressive taxation in Bulgaria.
"The flat tax has played its role. We believe that it is time for a change that will lead to fairer taxation, the introduction of a non-taxable minimum and, in general, the maxim - the rich pay more than the poor", he was categorical and stated: "We will not reconcile".
"Whether we will switch to progressive taxation next year or by the end of the mandate is a matter of discussion and calculations. The right direction is to move on, because rich countries work with exactly this tax system," the MP commented.
Regarding the vote of no confidence on the topic of "The Conquered State", Iliyan Yonchev expressed his opinion:
"Apparently the opposition is looking for a way to promote and raise its political rating. This vote will be unsuccessful and will be another waste of parliament's time. Instead of dealing with the laws, we will once again become a talking shop".
According to him, the parties that claim that the state has been "conquered" are representatives of political nomads.
"The state has not been conquered, these are political suggestions that I do not accept," he emphasized. And he denied that Peevski's influence on the government is that great:
"The Water Board is a hot topic that was voted on with a full majority in the National Assembly. Does this mean that the entire National Assembly is playing by Peevski's whistle? When there are good ideas, should they be rejected a priori? Shops for the people - we will yet see how they will be implemented. When people can go and buy goods from one place at good prices and competition is created in these regions - I do not find anything wrong with this idea. In our program there is also a proposal to create markets where the chain of intermediaries can be avoided and products can be purchased at lower prices".
Iliyan Yonchev listed the priorities for the BSP in the new political season.
For him, the demand for the resignation of BSP Chairman Atanas Zafirov is absurd. There is no such discussion in the BSP, he was categorical. According to him, it is a matter of jealousy on the part of some representatives of the opposition that they were not invited to China.
Yonchev pointed out that the BSP is in normal relations with President Radev.
