Atanas Atanasov and the MPs from “Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria“ submitted a request for a hearing of the Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov in the National Assembly. The reason is the incident of September 4, when the director of the ODMVR – Ruse, Senior Commissioner Nikolay Kozhuharov, was attacked and seriously injured.
According to the DSB, the official versions of the institutions contradict each other. The Ministry of Interior initially described the case as a “domestic incident“, while the prosecutor's office spoke of “serious bodily harm inflicted on a police officer“.
The contradictions and lack of transparency undermine trust in institutions and affect the security of all citizens, the party added.
The MPs insist that the Prime Minister present to the National Assembly the full chronology of events – from the data in the 112 system, the actions of the Ministry of Interior and Emergency Services, to the notification of the prosecutor's office and the subsequent orders.
Their proposal is to include the hearing as the first item on the parliament's agenda on Wednesday.
