An elderly man died in a fire last night in Targovishte. Two fire crews were extinguishing a burning two-story house on Rila Street not far from the city center, BTA reported.
The incident was reported at 9:23 p.m. The house is old, with one death so far - a man aged about 75-78, said the director of the Regional Service for Fire Safety and Population Protection, Commissioner Stefan Stefanov. The victim lives alone.
The fire has been brought under control. One team of firefighters remained on the scene. Access to the site was limited, as beams and tiles were falling from the roof.
The cause of the fire will be determined clarifies. Inspection is pending.
