Veliko Tarnovo has started the renovation of 16 multi-family residential buildings under the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan (NRSP), the municipal administration announced. Veliko Tarnovo Municipality has signed contracts with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW) for the first stage of the procedure “Support for sustainable energy renovation of the residential building stock“.
The first blocks in which the activities are being prepared are located in the “Cholakovtsi“neighborhood, on “Byala Bona“street. The total amount of the grant is nearly 50 million leva, the municipality specifies.
With the implementation of the projects, the old apartment blocks will be completely renovated, and it is expected that the energy costs of households will decrease by over 60%.
The remaining buildings included in the program are located in the neighborhoods of „Buzludzha“, „Zona B“, „Kartala“, as well as in the areas around „Ivaylo“ stadium, MBAL „Dr. Stefan Cherkezov“ and Palace of Culture and Sports „Vasil Levski“. For them, the issuance of building permits is in the final phase, and construction activities will begin as soon as possible.
The municipality reports that there is also a decision for the blocks on the reserve lists. Starting next year, the government is planning a new national program for the renovation of residential buildings, with a planned resource of 2.5 billion leva. It will provide 100% financing for already approved buildings that did not receive funds in the first stage. The agreement was reached after talks between the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMB), chaired by the Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo, Daniel Panov, and the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works of the Republic of Bulgaria. Minister of Regional Development Ivan Ivanov commented that after negotiations with the European Commission, a total of 2.5 billion leva will be allocated for renovation by 2029, which will allow the implementation of projects throughout the country. country.
