Greece's housing market reports a 20% increase in sales in the first half of this year compared to the same period of the past. This is happening against the background of rising prices for this type of property.
Government revenues from transactions realized for the period under review are worth EUR 302.4 million. For comparison, in the first half of last year the amount was EUR 252.98 million. In the months of May and June of this year, a slight decrease in government revenues was registered as a result of the realized fewer sales during these two months.
Most deals – 3419, were realized in Athens, according to the data of the Real Estate Transfer Register.
The new measures envisaged by the state in the real estate sector can stimulate sales. They foresee a VAT freeze on new buildings.
Also, at the beginning of January 2025, the Mu Nome 2 program should be launched. It includes low interest rates on mortgage loans for first homes.
