The Cadastre accelerates the processing of files - 1

Starting this week, the Agency for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre (AGCC) will receive full real-time access to the information system of the Property Register. The new mechanism was decided after a meeting between the managements of the two institutions and aims to accelerate the processing of files and increase the quality and security of services for citizens and businesses. All real estate transactions registered with the Registry Agency also go through the cadastre for registration, which reflects the boundaries and characteristics of the properties in accordance with the right of ownership.

The new access will allow the AGKK to carry out checks on the property deeds submitted by applicants before changes are entered in the cadastral register, as a temporary measure until the introduction of a property register and the implementation of a two-way connection with the cadastre. “For us, this is the result of targeted work and constant cooperation with the Registry Agency and the Ministry of Justice. Real-time access to the Property Register is an important intermediate stage that will increase the security of the property market even before the final introduction of the Property Register in its full volume. It is important to note that the measure will lead to an additional workload for our field experts, whose main activity is to maintain the cadastral map in an up-to-date state“, believes Eng. Georgi Georgiev, Executive Director of AGKK. According to him, the measure is also a key stage towards building the full bilateral connection between the Property Register and the cadastral map and registers, as provided for in the Cadastre and Property Register Act.

The innovation comes at a time of a record volume of registered real estate transactions, reported by the Registry Agency – over 66,800 for the first half of 2025. With this growth in activity, the security and accuracy of entries in the cadastral registers are the number one priority for both institutions. AGKK assures that it will continue to work actively to modernize the systems and implement the bilateral connection of the registers to guarantee the protection of property rights.
