Foresters detained an armed poacher after a chase near Balchik

The offender's rifle was loaded with two hunting cartridges

On Wednesday, employees of the Regional Forestry Directorate - Varna, together with an employee of the Regional Forestry Directorate - Balchik and a representative of “Bull Hunting“, detained a poacher in the land of the village of Bezvoditsa, Balchik municipality, FACT has learned.

The inspection was attended by forest inspectors Kosyo Daskalov - chief forest inspector, Todor Banchev, Zdravko Dalekov, Nikolay Georgiev and Emil Enev from the Regional Forestry Directorate - Varna, Eng. Dimitar Todorov – employee of the TP DLS-Balchik in his capacity as a section leader, as well as a representative of “Bull Hunting“.

At around 9:50 p.m., the team noticed a jeep moving in the forest near the village.

The team consisting of Todor Banchev, Zdravko Dalekov and Eng. Dimitar Todorov gave a sound and light signal, as well as a brake light, to stop the vehicle for inspection. Instead of obeying, the driver rammed the official vehicle of the RDG-Varna and attempted to escape.

A chase began, during which the offender hit the forest inspectors' vehicle twice. Only on the third attempt did the officers manage to stop him and conduct a check.

A hunting rifle model IZH-58, loaded with two cartridges for big game, as well as a bag with additional ammunition, was found in the car of the driver S. V. from the city of Dobrich. The check showed that the person did not have a written hunting permit.

A report of findings and two acts under the Hunting and Game Conservation Act were drawn up. The offender was detained for a period of 24 hours. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
