The Court of Appeal in Burgas will today consider the remand measure of 26-year-old Romanian citizen Strate Ciprian. He is accused of causing the serious accident near Lake "Vaya", in which six migrants died.
A few days ago, the District Court left him in custody. Then it became clear that the accused was driving at an extremely high speed, reaching 150 km/h. According to the prosecutor's office, the Romanian should have received 1,250 euros per person to take the migrants to Sofia. According to investigators, the accused repeatedly ignored police orders after a nearly 70-kilometer chase with teams of the "Border Police".
If found guilty, the 26-year-old Romanian could receive 10 to 20 years in prison.
