A 33-year-old man from the Razgrad village of Mortagonovo has been detained for attempted murder, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Razgrad announced.
At around 02.40 on November 15, a signal was received on 112 that a man was moving along the roadway on the main road I-2, near the village of Ushintsi, and was trying to stop passing cars. The police team that arrived at the scene found a 68-year-old man from the village of Radingrad with stab wounds in the abdomen, chest and right forearm.
During the conversation, the victim was able to explain that at around 01:30 that night he was providing a taxi service to Mortagonovo and was stabbed by the client with a knife.
He was transported to the Razgrad Regional Hospital, where he was placed in the Intensive Care Unit with a temporary threat to his life. In the course of the immediate and targeted operational-search actions taken, the perpetrator of the act was identified - a 33-year-old man, criminally unprovoked, who turned out to have cut wounds in the wrists.
After being provided with emergency medical care and after being examined by a forensic doctor, he was detained in the Razgrad Regional Hospital building. The taxi was found in the village of Mortagonovo.
A criminal investigation is underway under the leadership of the Razgrad District Prosecutor's Office.
