Both Sarafov and Tsatsarov refused a hearing before the Notary Committee - 1

Borislav Sarafov and Sotir Tsatsarov did not appear before the "Notary" commission. At the beginning of the meeting, Nikola Minchev announced that the two had sent letters refusing the invitation to be heard, BNT reported.

Earlier in the week, Ivan Geshev sent a letter informing the commission that he is not in the country and is ready to appear before the commission after April 10, when he will already be in Bulgaria.< /p>

In Sotir Tsatsarov's letter, it is said that he was heard by the Prosecution College of the SJC, where he presented the facts known to him. He states that he does not know Martin Bojanov and has nothing to say about him.

In the letter to the chairman of the commission, Nikola Minchev, Borislav Sarafov pointed out that after his assumption of office as the chief prosecutor, active actions were taken to clarify the role of Martin Bojanov and his unregulated influence in the official activities of acting magistrates. Sarafov recalls the investigation he commissioned in the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office and the calls to its head, Nevena Zartova, to resign.

He also points out that he commissioned a review of all prosecutorial files after a 2020 report was established, establishing „serious violations of the law” by the supervising prosecutors in the two pre-trial proceedings of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office, related with the case study “The Eight Dwarfs“.

"I would like to clarify that according to Art. 84, item 16 of the Constitution, I do not have the authority to provide detailed information on specific files and pre-trial proceedings.

At the same time, in view of the Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Constitution adopted by the 49th National Assembly, promulgated in SG no. 106 of 22.12.2023, the powers of the chief prosecutor were limited to a significant extent, and in my capacity as i.f. chief prosecutor, I do not have information on files and pre-trial proceedings related to the subject of the Commission's activity", Sarafov points out.

He points out that I find it absolutely unacceptable that some of the people's representatives in the form of the temporary parliamentary commission make comments and accusations to the Bulgarian magistrates that are not supported by facts and evidence.

"In the framework of the meetings held so far, magistrates were publicly humiliated in order to achieve personal, political and other interests. Moreover, some of the people's representatives openly cross the boundaries of good tone and education.

I am convinced that the institution I represent will answer the questions posed by the public and the people's representatives, and the facts brought to the public space will be checked with the means of the criminal process and in compliance with the principles of objectivity, comprehensiveness and completeness of the investigation. ;, says Sarafov's letter.
