They left the two men detained on a yacht near Tsarevo in custody , in which drugs were found in particularly large quantities. The decision is of the Court of Appeal in Burgas. With it, the magistrates confirmed the first-instance ruling, with which the accused E.M. - a Romanian citizen and V.P. - a Bulgarian citizen, were taken into custody.
The Bulgarian and the Romanian were detained on July 16 of this year, BTA recalls. They have been brought in as defendants for having attempted to transport high-risk narcotics - over 61 kg of marijuana, 45 grams of ecstasy, nearly 500 grams of cocaine - on a yacht from Bulgaria to the Republic of Turkey. According to the law, the crime is a serious intentional crime, punishable by 10 to 15 years of imprisonment and a fine of BGN 100,000 to BGN 200,000, the court in Burgas stated.
The Romanian citizen has previous convictions.
The Court considers that the detention of the two defendants is in accordance with the public interest to prevent their absconding, as well as their misconduct.
The determination of the Court of Appeal – Burgas is final.
