Composition of the District Court in Stara Zagora did not leave in custody any of the six people accused of possessing and trading cultural and historical values, who were detained during an action of the Main Directorate "Fighting Organized Crime". (GDBOP).
The arrests were announced at a briefing on August 1. Then it was announced that during a special operation on the territory of the Stara Zagora region under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office – Stara Zagora, GDBOP employees – The Ministry of Internal Affairs detained six people from an organized criminal group engaged in illegal archaeological activity and trafficking in antiques.
The arrested are aged between 39 and 61 years old from Stara Zagora, Simeonovgrad, Maglizh and Galabovo. In them, 345 objects with traces of ancient medieval finds were found and seized, among them 95 coins, 19 statues, as well as 10 metal detectors, with the help of which illegal archaeological activities were carried out, it was reported at the press conference.
For two of the defendants, the court set a remand order of "house arrest", for three - a "monetary guarantee", and the last one was released without a remand order. The measures were considered behind closed doors and separately for each of the accused.
