Main Directorate &bdquo ;Fighting Organized Crime” and the National Revenue Agency announced in a joint briefing that, in connection with an investigation into an organized tax evasion scheme in the trade in grain and fertilizers, they found that from 2021 to mid-2024, damage was caused to the state in the amount of 9 million BGN.
“The pre-trial proceedings and the actions are led by the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office and the investigation is currently ongoing. On Tuesday, the measure of the detainees was reviewed, there are persons who are left “in custody”, said the deputy director of the GDBOP senior commissioner Kalin Litov, quoted by Nova TV.
27 addresses were searched, nine people were detained, six of them were brought under criminal responsibility.
They acted by evading taxes in two directions – when trading with cereals and fertilizers. “Corporate tax is due for trade in cereals, and corporate tax and VAT for fertilizers, added the senior commissioner.
„Representatives of the companies were established, and during the period one of the persons withdrew BGN 57 million from the cash register. Money that served to create the appearance of transactions that everything is legal”, Litov announced.
Deputy executive director of the NRA, Evgeni Nankov, stated that the group had sold its products to manufacturers that the Agency could not identify. “During its work, the criminal group created a network of companies that make documentary evidence of the products”.
„ The NRA has taken measures against all participants in the group, control proceedings are being carried out, evidence is being collected and factors are being established. "Measures have been taken to secure the obligations," Nankov pointed out.
