On September 25, 2024, in District Attorney's Office – In Plovdiv, a pre-trial proceeding led by the District Prosecutor's Office has taken place under the jurisdiction – Plovdiv for causing the death due to negligence of a 67-year-old woman in the town of Sopot.

After an analysis of the collected evidence and the received conclusions from the expert medical reports, today September 26, 2024, the District Prosecutor's Office – Plovdiv charged V.S., 68, for negligently causing the death of a 67-year-old woman, his wife, as a result of intentional infliction of medium bodily injury – crime under Art. 124 para. 1 of the Criminal Code.

On September 23, 2024, a signal was received on phone 112 that in the city of Sopot, region Plovdiv, a strong unpleasant smell can be felt from an apartment in a residential block. Police and medical teams arrived at the scene and found a dead woman in one of the rooms. It was established that she was 67 years old, the wife of V.S., and died a few days ago after an incident between the two. According to the collected evidence, V.S. caused moderate bodily harm to the victim – a fractured left femur from which complications occurred – pulmonary embolism, and the woman died.

The accused V.S. is detained for up to 72 hours by decree of the supervising prosecutor. District Attorney's Office pending – Plovdiv to submit a request to the court to determine a measure of remand “retention in custody” relative to him.
