The elderly woman from a village near Dobrich, who became a victim of a telephone scam, got back her savings in the amount of BGN 60,000 after the arrest of the two perpetrators of the criminal act. This was reported by the police.
The 83-year-old woman from the village of Pchelino in the municipality of Dobrich became a victim of telephone fraud in February. Prosecutor Dr. Daniel Iliev – a spokesman for the district attorney's office in the city and the supervising prosecutor in the case visited the elderly woman at her home with the documents proving the refund and assured her that whatever she had given the supposed doctors, thinking she was saving her son, was already returned.
This became possible after, within a month, from the end of October to the end of November, the two actual perpetrators of the phone fraud, whose victim was the 83-year-old woman, were detained. At the request of the District Prosecutor's Office in Dobrich, the court determined the most severe measure of remand against the accused D.A. (38 years old) and A.A. (44) and left them in custody. For the execution of the scheme, they also had an assistant acting as a mule in the frauds, who was also brought to criminal responsibility in February.
We remind you that earlier this year the District Prosecutor's Office returned the sum of BGN 15,500, owned by a woman from Burgas, who was the victim of a telephone fraud carried out by the same persons.
The actual perpetrators of telephone scams were detained by the District Prosecutor's Office – Dobrich, the Main Directorate of the "National Police", the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the city and their colleagues from our northern neighbor Romania. The work of proving and documenting the criminal activity of the two accomplices continues. At this stage of the investigation, data has been established that D.A. and A.A. are also involved in more telephone scams on the territory of the Dobrich, Varna and Burgas regions.
