The Sofia Police have arrested two people for the attempted murder of Dimitar Stoyanov, known as Mitko Rusia, and his son Konstantin, who were shot in a parking lot in Sofia last September. The detainees are Kayo Macedonian, who permanently resides in Bulgaria, and 44-year-old Kaloyan Animal. During the investigation, the police found the weapon of the crime - a .22LR pistol, as well as an illegal weapons factory near the capital, the newspaper "24 Chasa" wrote.
During the attack in September last year, Dimitar Stoyanov received a gunshot wound to the cheek, while his son Konstantin was shot twice in the chest. Despite the serious injuries, the two managed to get to the hospital on their own.
In the opened illegal weapons factory, forensic experts found various devices and tools for repairing, adjusting, filing and erasing serial numbers. Rifles, pistols and TNT pellets were also found at the scene.
This is the third time that Dimitar Stoyanov has been targeted by shooters. In March 2016, Rusia had a meeting at a gas station on Tsarigradsko Shosse Boulevard, when an unknown assailant approached and shot his jeep four times. Then Stoyanov escaped with only a scratched hand from the broken glass. Despite the presence of witnesses, the investigation did not lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.
The first shooting against Rusia was in 2013, when he was wounded in the arm while getting into a taxi. In this case too, the investigation did not lead to the arrest of any suspects.
In December 2011, Stoyanov was arrested in Operation "The Silovats" together with Valeri Naumov-Valtera, Rosen Todorov-Debeliya and Daniel Manolov-Bidona. The group was accused of extorting prostitutes, but the case did not reach court.
