A 69-year-old man from Bansko was detained for 24 hours. He is suspected of being cruel to his dog on Monday afternoon by tying it to the towbar of the car he was driving and driving it along "Bulgaria" Street in the city. This was reported by BTA's correspondent in Blagoevgrad, Desislava Velkova.
According to initial data, the animal was not seriously injured. It is due to be examined by a veterinarian. The police added that the competent prosecutor's office has been notified of the case and pre-trial proceedings have been initiated.
We recall that this month the parliament increased the penalties for crimes against animals. This happened with the provisions of the prepared general bill for amendments and supplements to the Criminal Code adopted on second reading.
