The most severe measure of deterrence – “detention in custody“ will be suffered by a man from Sliven, accused of intentionally hitting and running over a pedestrian, the Burgas Court of Appeal announced. During the incident, it became clear that the men were neighbors.
The case dates back to August 14, when the accused, driving a minibus in the city, hit a man and then ran over his body with his car.
After the act, the man left the scene and hid.
He has been charged with intentionally causing serious bodily harm in a traffic accident and fleeing the scene – a crime for which the law provides for imprisonment from 4 to 12 years and deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle.
The second instance court accepted that there was sufficient evidence of the defendant's involvement, as well as a real danger of absconding and improper influence on witnesses.
