This day marks the anniversary of the creation of military aviation. On October 16, 1912, two Bulgarian pilots – lieutenants Radul Milkov and Prodan Tarakchiev for the first time they used the aircraft as a combat tool in the sky above Edirne, demonstrating striking power and qualities in winning battles. This date became a symbol of the best traditions in military aviation and in 1963 October 16 was declared a holiday of aviation and the Air Force.
The aviation museum will offer its audience a special program dedicated to the history of Bulgarian aviation.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view the new photo-documentary exhibition "With the wings of the enemy". The trophy airplanes of Bulgaria (1915 – 1918)". It tells about the fate of some of the more than 20 enemy aircraft shot down or landed for various reasons on the territory controlled by the Bulgarian Army during the First World War, as well as about the dedication of the Bulgarian pilots in piloting and using them in combat conditions.
Throughout the day, the lounge of the An-24 aircraft will be open, in which the film "Balan: Memories Fly" will be screened.
The most curious admirers of Bulgarian aviation will also have the opportunity throughout the holiday to test their knowledge in the game "Pages from the past", where they will answer 10 questions on interesting facts presented in the museum's permanent exhibition.
