Comment by Ivaylo Noyzi Tsvetkov:
It is so simple that even a biased political television commentator is able to understand it: PP-DB currently has only one super-cognitive task - not to fall into the generously opened trap called "Rumen Radev".
Just not a new "assembly"
That is, PP-DB should not fall into Radev's meta-utopia, to defend the Euro-Atlantic direction to the end despite the friction in the collective West and not enter into a new type of assembly, just because they supposedly have a common opponent. Moreover, Radev will ruthlessly snatch votes, including from the democratic periphery. He has already tried to appropriate the protest, although he did not even show up at the window in December, this Helmut von Moltke of ours.
Immediately, by the way, I also thought of "Meet El Presidente", a lesser-known song by the unfairly considered "cheeky" pop geniuses "Duran Duran", which ironizes the great right-wing icon Thatcher - i.e. that from all the beautiful tales of the late Maggie at the time, she is actually turning into something like an ultra-right selfish dictator on supposedly democratic soil. And now, when TASS squealed with joy and predicted that Radev would be the next prime minister, I think of the same cards on the table. PP-DB voters should never allow a new alliance with an ideological opponent out of expediency, even more so from a genealogically repulsive political and cultural order.
Radev has been weaving his parliamentary basket for years
I can see it clearly: the Euro-Atlantic banner is being defended to the end, even if it hurts like a knee joint, into which such an undemocratic needle enters and you gnash your teeth.
The needle is also the meta-awakening - enough with the fruitless chatter about the "taken over state", there is a completely new impostor, a completely new "bird of prey" that wants everything. They fought against this in liberal democracy, and even since the real dissidence of the Soc. As the ancient Romans said - cave canem, i.e. Beware of the "evil dog", because it does not obey reason, but will try to seize all power with the drive of a bull terrier who has prematurely broken the chain.
And then the positives from the protest can be diluted. Because Radev is not a new player - in the last 6 years at least, even outside the caretaker governments, this man spoke only politically, deserting his role as a unifier and president, i.e. gradually entangling his future parliamentary basket.
The presidential institution was reduced to a personal springboard
Now let's be a little conceptual. In my opinion, PP-DB should: say yes, he should have really supported us even during the time of the raised fist against Geshev and Borisov and then come out, and not then slowly and slowly weave his web through the caretaker governments. For at least 6 years now, he has been de facto denouncing the presidential institution with unfortunate political anti-speech - "nasty spam", including in his New Year's addresses.
This is a man who has so far used the institutionality as a personal springboard - i.e. both a kind of immature person who seemed to have gotten tired of the presidency and chose another game on the console, and a new strict-looking "statesman". And in fact, he often reminded Alekov of a hero who carefully adjusted everything so as to offer muskalki to a relatively large and eternally dissatisfied with himself and the world part of the population. He got on the surfboard, not caring that there were no ready-made structures in place. However, he is capable of taking at least 85 deputies right now - simply because the Bulgarian does not vote for policies and a possible meaningful future, but for ichirgu boil.
Don't forget Radev's genesis
Therefore, there is a danger that the big December protest will become an electoral victim of the "Radev wave". Not in the Gen Z part, they understand perfectly well that this is another uncle who does not tell them anything. The problem is how the democratic forces will try to recover from this shock, just when they were rightly expecting a wave, and now they may be left floundering in the surf. A deal with Radev could be the political end of the PP-DB coalition in its current form.
And if I were PP-DB, I would remind Radev, who pretends to be more innocent than a newly born Aphrodite, that a) he has an amoral political genesis, connected to a foreign and enemy state by political and any birth, and b) for at least 6 years he has been actively interfering in instrumental politics, even though he is sitting on the fence. The other option is to have a relatively honest democratic political community, even with this leadership, which really turns out to be able to defend itself in opposition, bravely and according to the values that have been declared for a long time. And hopefully, but unlikely.
