Julian Popov: There is an energy alarm, but things are a little different

Let's keep our PAVETS in good condition and build new ones. We don't

Energy alarm going up. Grounded. Solar energy is not enough on foggy winter days, we can't do without coal, that's how far Brussels has brought us. It's good that we resisted the pressure, pulled the cables in the Parliament, saved Bulgaria.

However, things are a little different. There is a problem. But he was created by us.

This is what he warns on "Facebook" the energy expert Julian Popov.

For at least 10 years, it has been clear in what direction the energy industry is going. It has been clear to some for a long time. Bulgaria stubbornly refuses to prepare for the energy transition. What should we have done to have no energy concerns (we are far from a real energy crisis):

1. To develop a normal energy efficiency policy and introduce meaningful financial instruments to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. We didn't.

2. To develop a normal housing policy. And we don't have a housing policy at all.

3. To concession heating systems in the country, especially in Sofia. The word “concession” however, it is taboo in our country.

4. To keep our PAVETS in good condition and to build new ones. We don't.

5. To stimulate the development of batteries on a commercial basis. Nothing.

6. Let's liberalize the electricity market (another anti-social and anti-economic taboo) and develop a sensible energy poverty policy. (Neither)

7. To build a stronger electricity transmission network, including cross-border. We did a little, but far from enough.

8. Let's not bow to the maniacal opposition to wind and build at least 3 GW (so far) of offshore wind to partially balance solar. And we didn't do that.

9. To push the development of biogas, including in plumbing, as it is in Sofia, and the use of waste for energy. However, we prefer to bury ourselves in them, but not to use them.

10. To develop the Maritsa East region as a leading complex of new energy, including with pressure on the so-called American power plants, which could lead the investment and technological process. And we are not done with that.

And many other things could be done like CfD, NZEB, ESCO, PPA and other more or less specialized abbreviations. They didn't happen.

Now Brussels is to blame for us again. And those who cut the cables in the parliament will save us.
