Joachim Loew believes Germany are on the right track - 1

Joachim Loew, a former Germany coach who won the World Cup with the Bundesliga in 2014, believes the team is on the right track in its 2026 World Cup campaign, despite losing its first qualifying match in Slovakia two weeks ago, BTA reports. Loew said that "everything goes up and down", but coach Julian Nagelsmann and sporting director Rudi Voehler "are doing a very good job" overall.

"I believe they can definitely make a few adjustments before the World Cup and then hopefully they can play a good tournament", said Löw.

Löw admitted that "the last few games were not convincing" after Germany lost to both Portugal and France in the Nations League finals, before the defeat to Slovakia followed by a win against Northern Ireland.

"We still need a few solutions to be among the best teams. That is not the case at the moment, Löw said. – I believe Nagelsmann can find the right approaches to have a good World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.“

Loew has resisted suggestions that Manuel Neuer should be brought back into goal after retiring from the national team last year due to uncertainty surrounding new goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who is injured and no longer a regular at his club Barcelona. Loew called Neuer “probably the best goalkeeper of all time“ but added that Manuel had already said “no”.
