Botev (Pd) took three points from Septemvri in Sofia and is no longer in last place in the provisional standings in the First League. Plovdiv defeated Septemvri Sofia 3:1 in a match from the ninth round of the First League. Two of the new additions to the “canaries” Armstrong Oko-Flex (2) and Mascotte scored, and captain Todor Nedelev missed a penalty. Georgi Varbanov was accurate for Septemvri.
Already in the 9th minute of the match, Armstrong Oko-Flex opened the score in favor of Botev. The striker from the Republic of Ireland received the ball in the penalty area after a cross from Nikolay Minkov and masterfully sent it into the net of Yanko Georgiev. Plovdiv continued to play stronger and Dimitar Mitkov missed to double.
In the 34th minute, September equalized the score. The goal was scored by Clery Serber, who completed a solo breakthrough with a pass to Georgi Varbanov, who shot past Daniel Naumov for 1:1.
Three minutes after the restart, Varbanov brought down Minkov in the penalty area and Botev was awarded a penalty by referee Lyuboslav Lyubomirov. The away captain Todor Nedelev stood behind the ball, but his shot was saved by Yanko Georgiev.
In the 57th minute, substitute Nikola Iliev also came very close to scoring a second goal for Botev, his shot from close range going straight at Georgiev.
In the 72nd minute, things got tough for Septemvri, as Sebastian Wade headbutted Kuateng and the referee showed him a straight red card. Just four minutes later, Botev took the lead again. Mascot from the penalty spot left no chance for Georgiev, and the assist was again for Minkov.
In the last minute of extra time of the match, Armstrong Oko-Flex finished a quick counterattack with a precise shot for the final 3:1 in favor of Botev.
