Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr has surprisingly received a transfer ban from FIFA “until further notice”. The reason is that the Saudi club is late with a payment of 9 million euros to Manchester City for the transfer of Aymeric Laporte in 2023, Sportal.bg reported.
The amount in question should have been transferred to the English club by last August 31st at the latest. In this regard, now, until it is paid, Al-Nassr cannot register new players.
Two and a half years ago, Laporte was traded for 27.5 million euros. The Spanish defender is no longer at Ronaldo's club, having been sold to Athletic Bilbao for €10m last January.
This is no stranger to Al-Nassr. In July 2023, just months after Ronaldo's arrival, the club faced a similar player registration ban. The ban was linked to financial irregularities surrounding the transfer of Ahmed Musa from Leicester City in 2018.
