Mbappe missed several early chances before getting his chance from the penalty spot four minutes from time, and made no mistake, scoring his 59th goal in as many games in all competitions in 2025, equalling Ronaldo's achievement from 2013.
Jude Bellingham put Real ahead with a header seven minutes before the break, and Sevilla were reduced to ten men 22 minutes from time after Marcão received a second yellow card.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also made a significant contribution to Real's victory, as he saved several dangerous shots from the opponent, which were allowed by the home team's not particularly reliable defense.
