The Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior - Georgi Kandev, shared on Saturday before noon that immediate measures were taken after the clip with Dimitar Berbatov's car was distributed on social networks, Gong.bg reported, citing BGNES.
It was clear from it that there was a gun next to the driver's seat. For this reason, the football legend, who has recently become an advisor to Prime Minister Gyurov, was fined the maximum amount.
On Saturday morning, Berbatov was summoned to the Ministry of Interior to be served with a certificate for improper storage of his personal weapon.
„When you are a public figure, you bear greater responsibility and your behavior should be an example for everyone.
This morning, we summoned Mr. Dimitar Berbatov to the Ministry of Interior to be served with a certificate for improper storage of his personal weapon. This happened after a video appeared in the public domain, showing that he had left his legally owned pistol in his car unattended - an act that constitutes a violation of the Law on Weapons, Ammunition, Explosives and Pyrotechnic Devices.
Last night, I ordered an investigation into the case. This morning it was concluded and Mr. Berbatov was fined the maximum amount under the current law.
The rules apply to everyone. It is even more important, however, that mistakes are not just punished, but recognized and corrected.
I hope that every Bulgarian citizen will learn a lesson from this case and will treat their obligations and the safety of those around them responsibly“, reads Kandev's message on social networks.
