Levski took a big step towards the Bulgarian championship title after defeating CSKA 3:1 in the “Eternal Derby“. “The Blues“ are now just one success away from triumphing for the 27th time, leading by 11 points over second-placed CSKA 1948 with five rounds remaining.
However, the victory did not come easily. Levski's players had to make a turnaround after defender Christian Makun scored an own goal in the 11th minute. Gradually, “The Blues“ took control and equalized through Everton Bala at the end of the first half. Shortly after, Akram Bouras brought a complete turnaround with a goal for 2:1.
After the break, Levski continued to be the more active team and created more chances. The third goal came in the 80th minute, when reserve Mazir Sula scored with a precise diagonal shot, which finally decided the outcome of the match.
CSKA started more motivated and even took the lead, but then failed to maintain their level and had difficulty creating clear chances. In the end, the “reds” did not find a way back into the match.
After 31 rounds, Levski is the leader with 73 points, followed by CSKA 1948 with 62, Ludogorets with 60 and CSKA with 56.
