Hristo Hristov won a bronze medal in the match in the up to 110 kg category at the European Weightlifting Championships in Batumi. The Bulgarian collected a total of 412 kg, after recording 190 kg in the clean and jerk and 222 kg in the snatch. Our other representative - David Fisherov - finished in seventh place with a match of 387 kg upon his return to a major forum. Hristov reached silver in the clean and jerk and bronze in the snatch, with his last attempts in both movements being unsuccessful. Fisherov, on the other hand, recorded 172 kg in the clean and jerk and 211 kg in the snatch, BTA reports.
Garik Karapetyan became the European champion with a match of 415 kg. He made up for his loss after the first lift with an excellent 226 kg in the clean and jerk. Silver went to Luis Rodriguez with 414 kg, who was the best in the clean and jerk, but lost ground in the second lift.
With the participation of Hristov and Fischerov, Bulgaria's performance at the championship also ended. Titles for the country were won by Angel Rusev (up to 60 kg) and Carlos Nassar (up to 94 kg), Ivan Dimov took silver in the up to 65 kg, and among women, Boyana Kostadinova came third in the up to 48 kg category.
