The Council of Europe will welcome the Paralympic flame in Strasbourg on Sunday, August 25, reports SIR (Servizio Informazione Religiosa).
On arrival in France, the Paralympic flame will be divided into 12 flames, which will be placed simultaneously in different locations, including Strasbourg.
The opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games will take place in the capital Paris on August 28. "The Paralympic flame will be celebrated with music and a series of speeches by representatives of the Council of Europe and the French authorities," the organizers announced.
The first torch will be lit in front of the Council of Europe building at 3:30 p.m. local time. The Paralympic Games will continue until September 8. This is the 17th edition of the Summer Paralympic Games. For the first time in its history, Paris hosted them, and France had already hosted the Winter Paralympic Games (in 1992).
Security during the Paralympic Games in Paris, which will be held from August 28 to September 8, will be provided by 25 thousand law enforcement officers. This was announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
