Bulgarian grandmaster Ivan Cheparinov leads the ranking after the 5th round of The European Individual Classical Chess Championship for men, FOCUS reported.
The competition takes place in Petrovac, Montenegro.
In the fifth round, the native chess player prevailed with the white pieces over the representative of the home team Nikita Petrov after 106 moves of play.
Cheparinov has 4.5 points. The German Frederik Zvane, the Spaniard Maxim Chigaev and the Serbian Aleksander Indzic still have that much.
The young Momchil Petkov also recorded a victory today. The 19-year-old Bulgarian defeated the Georgian Noy Tutisani with whites. With the success, Petkov now has 3.5 points.
