Russell won the second free practice session in Canada

The Briton George Russell recorded the fastest time in the second free practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix in Formula 1, BTA reports.

The Mercedes driver turned a lap in 1:12.123 minutes, followed by Lando Norris (McLaren) and Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes).

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) set the fastest time in the first session, but in the second he remained only ninth, one position behind Lewis Hamilton with Ferrari.

Charles Leclerc of Ferrari missed the second session after crashing in the first, leaving the mechanics with a lot of work to repair the car.

The leader in the general classification Oscar Piastre set the sixth fastest time in the second practice session. Piastre leads Lando Norris by 10 points in the general classification after nine of the 24 rounds of the season.
