Fluminense vs. Borussia (Dortmund) is another of the interesting clashes from the first round of the group stage of the Club World Cup. The match between the Brazilians and the Germans is tonight at 19:00 Bulgarian time on “MetLife” in East Rutherford, reported sportal.bg.
The match is from Group “F”, which also includes the exotic Ulsan Hyundai (Republic of Korea) and Mamelodi Sundowns (Republic of South Africa).
The seemingly lower level of the other two teams obliges Fluminense and Borussia to advance to the round of 16.
The South Americans are in the tournament as champions of the Copa Libertadores in 2023, and the team from Dortmund because of its high coefficient in European tournaments over the last four seasons.
Fluminense's coach is Renato Gaucho, who took over the team for the… sixth time in April. The former Brazil international is like a club icon, but he has only won one trophy at the head of the team, and that was in 2007. The most popular name in the squad is central defender Thiago Silva, who will turn 41 in September.
The problem for Borussia is that the team has not played an official match for a month since the Bundesliga season ended. The Westphalians managed to qualify for another Champions League appearance, which was also the task of Niko Kovac's team. It will be interesting to see how Jude Bellingham's brother Job, who was brought in a few days ago, will fit in.
