The China National Space Administration (CNSA) has revealed the concept of its lunar base . The video includes a lander and a lunar rover, as well as a launch pad for orbital satellites. The department intends to invest in this project over the next several decades.
The current trajectory is consistent with the planned Chang'e 6 (2024) and Chang'e 7 (2027) missions. China is now leading the initiative to establish a lunar base along with countries such as Russia, Venezuela, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, South Africa, Egypt, Thailand and Nicaragua. CNSA intends to involve other international partners in the project.
By 2028, the agency plans to launch the first communications intended for electricity production, as well as other infrastructure facilities. The project includes the construction of the International Lunar Research Base (ILRS), where research will be carried out.
The complex will be adapted for long-term missions on the surface of the satellite, as well as in its orbit. The ILRS is planned to be built in two stages: by 2035, key infrastructure facilities will be built around the south pole of the Moon, and by 2045, a fully equipped complex will be built. See more.
