The opposition is not planning to demand the resignation of the cabinet for now. In the first reactions after the budget disputes, it insisted only on adjustments to the state's account, not on overthrowing the government. And while the so-called “urban right“ — a term that has long sounded more like a label than an ideological affiliation — apparently thought that the protest would follow the scenario of the previous ones, reality surprised them. Discontent and disgust with the government, fueled by the weak tone of the opposition, ultimately brought people to the streets. The only question was who would be the first to give the signal. It turned out that PP&DB were the first, but even they did not expect the scale of the event. This was announced to Lili Marinkova in the studio „FACTI“ and the program „Razgovor“ by journalist Diana Hussein.
„Anyone who was at both protests clearly feels the difference: this time the energy was not of PP, it was not of industrial capital, nor of Borisov, despite attempts to suggest the opposite. Those present on the square understood that this was not a protest that anyone could appropriate. Even the accusations that Borisov supported the first protest for the budget sounded hollow – it was just that the topic of the budget was profitable for him“, Hussein pointed out.
„The atmosphere yesterday was reminiscent of the strongest days of the demonstrations of 2020 — not even so much in numbers as in charge. There is a growing sense that this is a generational protest, not a party one. A generation that has taken the conversation beyond budget and beyond political tactics. The last time the triangle of power was so full was on September 2, 2020, at the nationwide protest. Now the picture seems painfully familiar — and equally uncomfortable for those who hoped the storm would pass them by“, Hussein added.
