This morning, a man suspected of stealing a Lexus car owned by Prime Minister Donald Tusk was detained at the airport in Gdansk, Polish media reported.

The Lexus thief was arrested at the airport just before he left the country - towards Bulgaria. Surprised by the officers, he did not resist.

The detainee is a 41-year-old resident of the Polish city of Sopot, a Polish citizen, local police reported. The detainee was taken to the police station. Officers also searched his apartment and are collecting evidence.

The case caused widespread media coverage in Poland. The stolen car belongs to Donald Tusk and was guarded. It is not clear how the thief managed to get into the car unnoticed. He probably used electronic devices.

The suspect was supposed to fly to Bulgaria at 6 am. His connection to Bulgaria is not reported. The Polish publication Onet writes in its headline: “Holiday in Bulgaria? First, prison.“
