The war in Ukraine is coming to an end, said the People's Deputy of Ukraine and member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Fyodor Venislavsky.
„Now, when it is obvious that the war is coming to an end, some recognize it, and others do not. But in fact, we are moving in this direction“, he told Radio NV, UNIAN agency reports.
He explained that this was specifically indicated by one of the statements of US President Donald Trump. According to him, the American leader clearly understands that without his personal participation in the negotiations between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin, this process will not continue.
„And he is ready to strengthen this vector of his efforts. And we talked about this about a month ago, that the next meeting can only be in a trilateral format“, Venislavsky added. The MP explained that a bilateral meeting between Zelensky and Putin is unlikely to yield any results.
“Putin hates our president, our president does not accept Putin, who has brought so much grief to our people. Therefore, this meeting that Donald Trump announced, I think has every chance of bringing us closer to peace“, the MP explained.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that he would have to intervene to ensure a meeting between Zelensky and Putin. He also noted that ending the war in Ukraine was more difficult than he thought because of the “incomprehensible hatred“ between Putin and Zelensky.
