The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrsky, has dismissed two senior officers after the Kiev army lost territory in areas under their command, the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper and the Interfax Ukraine agency reported today, quoted by Reuters.

Syrsky ordered the dismissal of the two senior officers responsible for the 17th and 20th army corps in the past two weeks, the two Ukrainian media reported, citing official military representatives, BTA reported.

According to the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper The 17th Army Corps, commanded by Volodymyr Silenko, is deployed in the Zaporizhzhia region, where the Ukrainian army has lost at least one settlement on the banks of the Dnieper River.

The 20th Army Corps, commanded by Maxim Kitugin, is based on the administrative border between eastern Donetsk Oblast and central Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, where Russian forces have announced a series of successes on the front, capturing a number of settlements.

Interfax Ukraine added that the two senior officers have been transferred to another position.
